Since Erica is gone on her [super sweet I’m so jealous] road trip—I spent waaaay too much time hanging out with ‘newguy’ from my office this weekend watchin movies. And by watching movies I really mean watching movies.
Midnight in Paris
I am not a big fan of Owen Wilson…I just don’t think he’s got a lot of depth and I want to give him a nose job, terribly…however, Midnight in Paris was a blast. I was almost overwhelmed with all of the literary reference, but all in all it was super fun to watch. I laughed a lot. All of the characters were extremely well done (loved Dali) and Marion Cotillard was a super cute french addition. It also kept me awake after waiting to see the [not sold out] showing at 9:40 after waiting since 7—and after a few beers—and that’s sayin something. I walked the long way back to my car and drove the long way home after seeing it—feeling all romantic and seizin the 12am day and what not.
@ Bethesda Row Cinema. Parking always blows but the theater is sweet.

Summer Pasture
Documentary about Tibetan nomads and their struggle with keeping their way of life with civilization encroaching. It really was a simple documentary—no real climactic moments or anything, but that was pretty representative of their lives. Watching the husband and wife's interaction and obvious love for each other and their unnamed little baby girl was moving. The husband’s almost western obsession with his appearance (he used hair cream, zit cream, and shaved) was hilarious. Their never ending long days filled with exhausting work made me pretty grateful for my weekends. It was really a beautiful film to watch.
@West End Cinema—Super quaint, extra cute, but I was NOT expecting the tiny theaters with fold out chairs. However they had BEER and the BEST popcorn, so, I loved it.
